What exactly do people do with a BA of business management? That question has been stuck in my mind for a while, and I can never answer it. I simply want to know, what is a typical day at work, for a person who has a business management degree.

Right now I’m a junior at the University of Houston Clear Lake, and I’m starting to loose motivation in my studies. For the most part I just want to graduate and get college out of the way. But then I keep thinking, what is it like after college. I really hope I don’t get stuck with a job that I hate. I really want to work somewhere exciting. A job that I can talk about for hours and hours…


Bonfire Of The Brands

I’ve always felt strange wearing clothes that have brand names written all over them. So for the last few years I’ve worn clothes that either were subtle in the logo or hid the tag inside.

  • First of all I hate to be a bill board advertisement for clothing companies.
  • Second, it looks tacky.
  • Third, even though people might pay a lot for clothes, they shouldn’t be judged by what brand they are wearing. People should like you for who you are, not what you wear.

Well, One person decided that they are sick and tired of brands. So Neil Boorman is setting all the brand name items he owns, on fire! What a cool guy! He dislikes brands to the point of setting them on fire. My advice for him is to chill out and remove or hide the brand name logos. Problem solved right? For him, I don’t think so.

I would like to know if there is any way possible to escape advertisements, besides living in a forest, in the middle of nowhere. Well, I can’t think of a way to escape it all. Personally I would go live on a beach, but I still think there will be Coca-Cola or some brand name item everywhere. Just not nearly as much as in a city. If one day advertisement becomes as extreme as it was in the movie “Minority Report” I’ll have to move to a forest, or a deserted beach. Enjoy the links below.

A Cheap Train Ride
Three engineers and three accountants are traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three accountants each buy tickets and watch as the three engineers buy only a single ticket.

“How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?” asks an accountant. “Watch and you’ll see,” answers an engineer. They all board the train. The accountants take their respective seats but all three engineers cram into a restroom and close the door behind them.

Shortly after the train has departed, the conductor comes around collecting tickets. He knocks on the restroom door and says, “Ticket, please.” The door opens just a crack and a single arm emerges with a ticket in hand. The conductor takes it and moves on.

The accountants saw this and agreed it was quite a clever idea. So after the conference, the accountants decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money (being clever with money, and all). When they get to the station they buy a single ticket for the return trip.

To their astonishment, the engineers don’t buy a ticket at all. “How are you going to travel without a ticket?” asked one perplexed accountant.

“Watch and you’ll see,” answered an engineer. When they board the train the three accountants cram into a restroom and the three engineers cram into another one nearby. The train departs.

Shortly afterward, one of the engineers leaves his restroom and walks over to the restroom where the accountants are hiding. He knocks on the door and says, “Ticket, please.”

A bear was taking a crap in the woods. Near by a rabbit was doing the same. The bear asked the rabbit, “Say, do you have any problem with crap sticking to your fur?”

The rabbit replied, “Why no, I don’t believe I’ve ever had a problem with crap sticking to my fur.”

So the bear grabbed the rabbit and wiped his butt with him.

Reasons to hate work…

IN PRISON. . you spend the majority of your time in an 8X10 cell.
AT WORK . . . you spend the majority of your time in a 6X8 cubicle.

IN PRISON . . you get three meals a day.
AT WORK . . . you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for it.

IN PRISON . . you get time off for good behaviour.
AT WORK . . . you get more work for good behaviour.

IN PRISON . . the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you
AT WORK . you must carry around a security card and open all the doors for yourself.

IN PRISON. . you can watch TV and play games.
AT WORK. . . you get fired for watching TV and playing games.

IN PRISON. . you get your own toilet.
AT WORK. . . you have to share with some idiot who pees on the seat.

IN PRISON. . they allow your family and friends to visit.
AT WORK. . . you can’t even speak to your family.

IN PRISON. . all expenses are paid by the taxpayer with no work required.
AT WORK. . . you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

IN PRISON. . you spend most of your life inside bars wanting to get out.
AT WORK. . . you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go inside bars.

IN PRISON . . . you must deal with sadistic wardens.
AT WORK . . . they are called managers.

So ……. why is it again that we work?

Peace for the Middle East!

If Israel continues its pursuit of Hezbollah, Lebanon will be wiped off the face of the Earth. Doesn’t the Israeli government feel responsible at all for the death and destruction it has caused so far, against the Lebanese people? The more civilians that die in Lebanon, the more support Hezbollah will gain. Nothing is worst than the loss of innocence, especially the children. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Lebanese children of today, grow up to hate Israel for the hardships they will be forced to deal with.

I would like to see the International community come together quickly, and put an end to the violence, and hate between the people of the middle east. No war is going to solve these conflicts.

In order to create peace there must be an international presence in the middle east. A presence that includes the Jewish community, the Muslim community, and the Christian community. There must be open dialogue and reasonable rules, that everyone can agree upon. No declarations should put hardships on anyone. The key to peace is tolerance of each other. If one community skews its laws and regulations to benefit its own people, then of course there will be no end to this war. The day when all the people of the middle east start taking care of each others needs, that day will bring forth the peace process. Maybe a Declaration of the Middle East needs to be written.
